the moving opens with an establishing and or ariel shot of the city. the camera slowly drifts through the city and ends up in front of a building. In this scene, the camera slowly zooms into the building and quickly switches to the main characters. after this scene, another building is shown but this time from a wide shot and the screen is rotating with eerie music in the background showing that the building has a specific impact on the plot



What connotations do the images carry?


the connotations that the images carry would be an un-ordinary and calm setting. the director of the film used these images in order to create the idea within the audience's head that everything is normal (as of right now) and nothing seems out of the ordinary and the image paints that image. however, the image of the rotating building with the non-diegetic sound playing in the background signifies that something evil or demonic is tied to that specific building which builds up tension.

In this moving opener technical codes do not exist (maybe throughout the rest of the movie). however, this film did use symbolic codes from the outset. reinforce the genre. The setting establishes the mystery aspect of the film due to the fact that in the movie opening the film focuses on one specific building which has the audience on their toes. another symbolic code would be mise-ens-scene

The inheritance is a popular series with different films and in each film, they use the same building for the same effect. and as a result of using the same building in this film, it appeals to the audience who enjoys the series

in the opening scene, we see an ariel and or establishing shot going through the city, we can also view the zooming in and out on certain objects (buildings) the rapid cut transitions, and the insert of non-diegetic and post synchronized dubbing are all ways that this film used technology effectively.
